4 Ways to Look Slimmer Now Using Ruching

Ruching is a sewing technique that adds gathers, ruffles or pleats to clothing.  When strategically placed, these gathers can greatly enhance the feminine silhouette and disguise belly fat.  Here are 4 fashion ensembles using ruching that are sure to make you look slimmer now!

Red Dress Without Ruching & Red Dress With Ruching

1. A Dress With Ruching

Just look at the stark difference in these 2 red dresses.  There has been no weight loss between the picture on the left and the va va voom picture on the right.

When Shopping for a dress with ruching look for:

  • Gathers that sweep across the stomach

  • Gathers that flow in an upward motion

  • Dresses Made With Jersey Fabric

2.  A Jumpsuit With Ruching

Jumpsuits in general are flattering to the figure because they automatically offer a monochromatic look.  Whenever you wear one color on top and bottom it has an elongating effect.

When Shopping for a jumpsuit with ruching look for:

  • Roominess in the tummy area

  • Material that offers some stretch

  • Gathers that give a wrap around feel

  • A Belt that sits high on the waist

3. A Swimsuit With Side Sweeping Gathers

Wow! Need I say more!

4. The Shirred Shirt

Shirts gathered and shirred at the band area are an excellent tummy disguise.  Notice the V-framing and bat wing sleeves of this particular gathered top.  The v shape gives the body an instant hour glass shape.

So what's your favorite way to wear ruching or gathers?  Leave a comment below.
